Tangerang–Merak Toll Road
The Tangerang–Merak Toll Road () - also known as the Banten highway - as a part of Trans-Java toll road is the second toll road to have been constructed in Indonesia, following the Jagorawi Toll Road in 1981. This highway connects Tangerang and the port of Merak on the north-western tip of Java, which further connects by ferry to Sumatra island. The road passes through Cikupa, Balaraja, Kragilan, Ciujung, Serang, Cilegon, and Merak.
Further investment is underway. In mid-2012 the toll road operator, PT Marga Mandala Sakti, recently acquired by Astra International Tbk, said that construction of all parts of the road to connect with the port of Merak was almost complete.〔'(Tengerang-Merak toll road nears completion.' ), ''The Jakarta Post'', 16 June 2012.〕
